Koh Rong Weekend Guide: Ferries, Beaches and Budget
Koh Rong is the easiest island escape from Phnom Penh: leave Friday night, be on white sand by Saturday morning, back at work Monday. Here is the practical plan.
Getting there
Take a night bus or van from Phnom Penh to Sihanoukville (4–5 hours, $10–15), then a speed ferry from the Sihanoukville Autonomous Port area to the island. Ferries take about 45 minutes and a return ticket costs $25–28. Morning departures start around 8am — book the ferry in advance on weekends and holidays, boats fill up.
